Candy Disguised as Health Food

We recently moved our headquarters from SF to a countryside town in Idaho. We’ve enjoyed settling in for the last few months and lately, we’ve been hard at work ensuring our space is clean, healthy, and functional. One of the ways we’ve done this is by adding a full water filtration system to the whole entire space to provide ourselves with clean water. We had our Crystal Quest Water System well-installed, and we love having clean water moving through our workspace. But as we began breaking down the boxes that were left behind from the purchase we noticed something that broke our hearts… a candy wrapper!

It was disguised as “health food", and this peanut butter and chocolate chip ‘Chewy Protein Bar’ was apparently what the installer felt would be the best snack for them to nourish themselves for a quick snack. Unfortunately, these pseudo foods are a far cry from being healthy. They’re actually, gulp… deadly.

The ingredients tell us right away that there is something dirty and detrimental lurking inside. Non-foods like soy protein isolate, refined sugar, soy lecithin, high fructose corn syrup, maltodextrin, and “natural flavors.” These chemicals and food additives are known to cause constipation, bloating, gas, flatulence, stomach pain, nausea, obesity, type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, high blood pressure, heart disease, allergic reactions, skin irritation, asthma, cramping, difficulty breathing, depression, dementia, liver disease, and cancer.

Imagine if instead of the ingredients, we listed known side effects of these chemicals!? Would you buy anything that said…

Further, you won’t be promoting an industry that’s making trillions of dollars every year only for you to end up on pharmaceuticals.

Be kind to yourself and take the extra minute to ensure you get all those extra minutes back in end. These foods are not snacks, they’re not healthy, and they will make you sick. Disguise removed…It’s candy!
